apokoronasApokoronas is a region of northwestern Crete, east of Chania. Apokoronas extends from the foothills of the White Mountains north to the coast, in a large valley with hills. The area is green and fertile, unusual for rocky Crete. Koiliaris River, known in antiquity as “dense”, passes through the area. The main towns of Vamos Vamos is, Armenians and Fountains. The cottages, Almyrida and Georgioupolis is the largest seaside resort with many villas for rent. Tourism and agriculture are the major local industries. Apokoronas is a province of Greece with its capital Vamos. The area is divided into several municipalities within the prefecture of Chania, which now hold local authorities.
